 DEMOCRACY PREVAILS!

Reflection: The Storming of the Capitol building resulted after the remarks by the president in inspiring his supporters to go to the capitol and protest, however as many protests go, it turned violent and resulted in the protesters storming the capitol. Fortunately, the rioters were pushed back out of the building (not without causing damage to property) and by six o' clock the capitol was all but secured. Overall this was a landmark victory for democracy, defeating the rioters, and was the first time since 1812 (when the British burned down the capitol) the capitol had been stormed. The winners of the day would probably be democracy and the democrats who after the storming would probably gain more support by moderates. Timeline of the Storming of the United States Capitol By: The New York Times

THE HILL WE CLIMB
By: Amanda Gorman

Amanda's speech was about unity and moving forward. Her message was about how we were in a difficult time and that just because you wait and stay quiet doesn't always lead to peace. She says that we should strive for a better tomorrow for the future generation and to not dwell on the past but the present for the future generations. She explains that we should rise from the tragedy and that we should not succumb to inaction but fill ourselves full of action to better us for the future. Overall I think the poem is a good one that I totally agree with, which talks about unity and moving on the future and to not dwell on the past, of which I think we should agree that we are in some dark times in American history and that to move on we must unite and move forward.

INAUGURATION DAY!
Today was inauguration day, and today marks Joe Biden's entry to office in which he gave a speech, in which he says a that democracy has triumphed and that,"Today is Democracy's Day." He also tells us to move on to rebuild this nation to build a better America, and congratulates other former presidents. He calls for confronting white supremacists, and etc. Like many of his speeches he calls for unity from every American. Telling us how Democracy will  never fall, he also congratulates Kamala Harris and his supporters. He goes on to tell us to make a better america for the new generations. Overall he tells us his plans about Justice For All, to fight white supremacists and others, and to defeat the pandemic. The best part of the speech of which gave me hope was when he pointed out that they were standing near on the place where Martin Luther King gave his speech and where the counter protesters protested women's right to vote, pointing out that there was a female vice president.
